Our laboratory is working to determine how genetic and epigenetic alterations collaborate to promote the transformation of myeloid malignancies by utilizing comprehensive approaches (e.g. genetically modified mice, CRISPR/Cas9 genome editing, and sequencing analysis such as ChIP-seq, ATAC-seq, and Bisulfate-seq).  Several areas of current investigation in the lab include:

  1. Understanding the functions of transcription factors and epigenetic modifiers in normal and malignant stem cells (e.g. leukemia and bile duct cancer)
  2. Understanding the molecular mechanism of how environmental stress and impaired niche drive development of myeloid malignacies
  3. Understanding the molecular mechanism of how numerical chromosomal anomalies drive development of MDS and AML
