Developmental Origins of Health and Cardiology
My research interests are cardiovascular development and adult cardiovascular diseases. Developmental origins of health and diseases (DOHaD) is the well-known concept that perinatal stresses increase the risk of adult-onset diseases, like ischemic heart diseases, hypertension, diabetes, chronic kidney disease and so on. Many epidemiological researches supported this concept, however, etiological mechanisms were almost unknown. Perinatal period has many unsolved mysteries in both physiological and pathophysiological condition. I name my main research project "Developmental Origins of Health and Cardiology" and try to find the relation between perinatal environmental stress and adult-onset cardiovascular disease.
