Long Nguyen (Pubmed search name: Nguyen LN) received PhD from University of Hamburg in Germany. He was trained as a postdoc in Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York and Duke-NUS medical school in Singapore. His major research focuses are the mechanistic characterizations of novel nutritionally regulated genes that involve in lipid transporters, nutrition transporters, and metabolism. He is the first to clone out the two major lysolipid transporters Mfsd2a, the omega-3 fatty acid transporter and Mfsd2b, the sphingosine-1-phosphate (S1P) transporter in hematopoietic cells. His group is now working on the signaling roles of S1P in various cell types including hematopoietic cells.
