On July 25, 2026, at the first "KUMAMOTO TECH CHALLENGE", our Laboratory of Hematopoietic Stem Cell Engineering received the Excellence Award for its business plan titled "Development of a Next-Generation Platform for Cell and Gene Therapy Based on Hematopoietic Stem Cell Expansion Technology".

"KUMAMOTO TECH CHALLENGE" is a pitch contest organized by "KUMAMOTO TECH ALLIANCE," an industry-academia-government collaboration platform established by Kumamoto Prefecture, Kumamoto University, the Kumamoto Industrial Federation, and Higo Bank. The contest aims to support the creation and growth of startups originating from Kumamoto by providing opportunities for researchers, students, entrepreneurs, and others with innovative technologies and business ideas to present their proposals.

In this competition, seven finalists who passed the preliminary screening delivered six-minute presentations followed by five-minute Q&A sessions. The participants engaged in active discussions on various aspects, including the uniqueness of their technologies, business potential, and future prospects.

2026年7月25日に開催された第1回「KUMAMOTO TECH CHALLENGE」において、造血幹細胞工学共同研究講座（代表：梅本晃正准教授／発表者：小須田進一氏）のビジネスプラン「造血幹細胞増幅技術を基盤とした細胞治療・遺伝子治療の次世代プラットフォームの開発」が優秀賞を受賞しました。

「KUMAMOTO TECH CHALLENGE」は、熊本県、熊本大学、熊本県工業連合会及び肥後銀行の4者が設立した産官学連携プラットフォーム「KUMAMOTO TECH ALLIANCE」が主催するピッチコンテストです。独自の技術やビジネスアイデアを持つ研究者、学生、起業家等を対象に、熊本発のスタートアップの創出・成長を支援することを目的としています。

今回の大会では、書類審査を通過した7組がファイナリストとして登壇し、それぞれ6分間のプレゼンテーションと5分間の質疑応答を行い、技術の独自性や事業性、将来性などについて活発な議論が交わされました。
