The 24th IRCMS Symposium on Hematopoiesis and Leukemia, organized by Dr. Goro Sashida of IRCMS, Kumamoto University, was held as part of the JSPS Core-to-Core Program "Integrative approach for normal and leukemic stem cells" on February 18 to 20, 2025. Under the theme of "Hematopoiesis and Leukemia," 36 researchers from respected research institutes both in and out of Japan presented their research.
The insightful three-day symposium brought together a diverse group of speakers and participants, fostering enriching discussions and meaningful exchanges. The first day commenced with an opening address by Dr. Sashida from IRCMS, followed by captivating presentations from 11 speakers. A highlight of the day was the keynote lecture by Dr. Michael Kharas from Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Institute. On the second day, 16 speakers each presented their unique perspectives and expertise. A special address was delivered by President Ogawa, and the keynote lecture by Dr. Kenneth Walsh from the University of Virginia provided valuable insights.
The final day featured 9 speakers, bringing the symposium to stimulating discussions. Dr. Takizawa of IRCMS gave closing remarks and the symposium concluded successfully. With this event, the program is set to conclude in March 2025.
