The 7th KU-KAIST Joint Symposium for Medical Science and Engineering held on November 6, 2023

November 15 2023

The 7th KU-KAIST Joint Symposium for Medical Science and Engineering was held on November 6th, 2023 at IBS-KAIST Campus in Daejeon Korea. The aim of the symposium was to match potential research collaborations between Kumamoto University and KAIST in the field of bio-engineering to harness medical and technology, in particular, bio-imaging (microscopy, nanotechnology and microfluidics) and single cell analysis (big data informatics, mathematical modeling, etc.).

The symposium had into two sessions, morning and afternoon, featuring insightful presentations by eight distinguished researchers from KAIST. Professor Hitoshi Takizawa, Associate Professor Yuichiro Arima, Associate Professor Kurotaki Daisuke and Postdoc Researcher Rieko Asai from Kumamoto University participated in the symposium and delivered research presentations. Each speaker presented cutting-edge research projects. Participants actively discussed their ongoing projects and future research collaborations throughout the symposium. Following the symposium, a lab tour at KAIST was arranged, providing an opportunity to visit Professor Koh Gou Young's research laboratory. The state-of-the-art scientific research facilities left a deep impression on us.

We express our gratitude for the enthusiastic participation and eagerly anticipate the ongoing success and growth of collaborative research endeavors. Additionally, we extend our thanks for the warm welcome by the KAIST community, with special appreciation to Professor Pilhan Kim for serving as the symposium chair.
