The American Society of Hematology (ASH) will honor Toshio Suda, MD, PhD with the 2020 E. Donnall Thomas Lecture and Prize for his outstanding contributions to the field of stem cell research.
Dr. Suda is the director of International Research Center for Medical Sciences (IRCMS) of Kumamoto University. He has been studying hematopoietic stem cells (HSCs) and cancer stem cells niche for over 40 years and is well known for his work internationally.
The E. Donnall Thomas Lecture and Prize, which was named after the late Nobel Prize laureate and past president of ASH E. Donnall Thomas, MD, was established in 1992. This prize recognizes pioneering research achievements in hematology that represent a paradigm shift or significant discovery in the field. This is one of the most honorable prizes in ASH.
Dr. Suda will present his lecture at the 62nd ASH Annual Meeting and Exposition, which will be held as an all-virtual event from December 5th to 8th, 2020.
