The Retrovirology Symposium " On the occasion of semi-retirement of Jonathan Weber & Charles Bangham" held on July 6th, 2023

The Retrovirology Symposium " On the occasion of semi-retirement of Jonathan Weber & Charles Bangham" supported by Imperial College London and Kumamoto University as part of the JSPS Core-to-Core Program "Integrative approach for normal and leukemic stem cells" was held on July 6th, 2023 at Anthony de Rothschild Lecture Theatre in Imperial College London. The day celebrated the semi-retirement of Professor Jonathan Weber (Dean of the Faculty of Medicine) and Professor Charles Bangham (Co-Director of the Institute of Infection), who first met 60 years ago during their junior school days. Approximately 60 attendees gathered to hear talks on HIV and HTLV-1 given by academics worldwide. Dr. Masao Matsuoka (Kumamoto University) attended the symposium as a speaker. The event provided a retrospective of their collaborative journey, marked by significant contributions to retroviral research.
